This is a gutsy young wine that wants airing (or decanting) to reveal all of its secrets. The nose gradually unfolds to reveal aromas of strawberry pie, bottled red cherry, fresh rose, toffee, baking spice and coriander seed. There is both youthful zest and grip on the palate, where the lingering flavors fan out as a medley of strawberry, cherry, rose, blood orange, baking spice and nutmeg, with hints of black olive and mushroom emerging with further airing. The finish has a food worthy balance, well-suited to dark meat stews, tomato sauce drenched pastas and the like. Expect another two years of steady evolution.
