This terrific Cab is almost grapey to the nose, where Atlas Peak’s graphite and charcoal mineral notes take a full step into the background behind expansive, youthful aromas of black raspberry, cassis, dark sour cherry, pomegranate syrup, clove, cedar and dark forest earth scents. That fruit is focused and just as dominant on the palate, where blackberry and star anise surge forth will all the hoped-for flavor authority. The finish, long lingering and just as fruit centric, rises above a firming spine of polished grip and mineral-graphite notes which showcase the wine’s Atlas Peak origin.
