Bright & rich in varietal fruit, oak and mineral spice, the nose of this knockout Chardonnay offers fresh applesauce, white peach, quince, hazelnut nougat and preserved lemon scents tied to a strong undercurrent of saline minerality. That almost Chablis-like mineral background is even more assertive on the palate and through a super-long finish. The flavors are tightly-wound at this stage, but white peach dominates, followed by notes of fresh chopped apple, Persian raisin, quince paste, hazelnut nougat and mineral salts. The finish is deep and lingering, and this is a terrific food wine already, although it wants another two or three years of cellar-time to demonstrate all of its virtues.
