2024 Outward “Montana de Oro”, White Grape Blend, Central Coast
San Francisco Wine Panel Score: 91 Points
This is a charming and surprisingly complex wine, with a lingering finish. The nose presents harmonious aromas of applesauce, pear, lemon cream, and chestnut over a background of saline minerality. On the palate, that pear-apple-lemon medley is bright yet gently tongue-coating and shows a mouth-watering contrast between its pretty fruit and some briny undercurrents. When served cold, it is a refreshing gulper, although as it warms a bit, it proves drier and seems impressively dinner-worthy. It should be terrific with seared scallops or Linguini alle Vongole. A blend of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc & Chardonnay. 240 cases produced.
