Firm and youthfully reserved, yet well focused, the nose offers a medley of dark cherry, dark plum compote, tobacco, violet, licorice root and dark earthy spice. It is gutsy and gripping, with lingering flavors of cherry, dark berries, dark plum, sweet tobacco and dark herbal spice. These items are all notable on the finish, where the wine's tannic backbone is apparent, as is it's fine length. This is a good dinner wine now yet those who cellar it can expect that this one will get better for several more years and be worth the wait.
