2022 Kazumi Koshu Napa Valley
San Francisco Wine Panel Score 95 Points
Kazumi offers California’s first and only presentation of Japan’s signature grape and the wine is a huge success. The aromas are vibrant, focused and full of floral and mineral nuances. In the nose, suggestions of quince, white peach, lemon blossoms and carnation are poised delicately above a firmer current of slate-like minerality. The wine is rich in texture yet the impression of delicacy continues on the palate, where the combination of floral and fruity notes is a satisfying counterpoint to a drying chalk undertone. The finish is energetic and ultra-long, and this lovely bottling will prove a gorgeous companion to sashimi, raw oysters and the like. It is captivating all by itself.
