Clearly a Wildcat Vineyard Pinot Noir in character, this expressive beauty opens with focused aromas of cranberry, red raspberry, whortleberry, pomegranate, grenadine and cherry pit, these scents poised above spicy-zesty-minerally background notes suggestive of mace, crushed rocks, blood orange zest and saline breezes. It is intensely mineral, piquantly spicy, sharply focused and a hint tannic in the mouth, where the surging flavors suggested in the nose take center stage and carry through a very long finish of fine intensity. It still wants 3 years or so to show all it has to reveal, yet will be terrific with seared duck breast and the like right now. It will be no surprise should it prove to be long-lived. 132 cases produced.
